A voyage aboard the clipper schooner Shenandoah, built according to mid-19th century sailing ship principles. The pride of Captain Bob Douglas, she has sailed the waters off Martha's Vineyard since 1964. I had the good fortune of spending several days aboard her in the late summer of 2015 with modern day chanteyman Bill Schustik.
Crossing the Atlantic on the modern day clipper ship Stad Amsterdam. Completed in 2000 for the Dutch company Randstad, she is a"modern extreme clipper in historical perspective." Her former first mate Michaël Barbaix provided crucial technical guidance during the writing of Barons of the Sea.
